Good evening,

My name is Jett.
I am new to the BP
community and am
interested in growing
Giant Pumpkins on my
2.61 acres in the low
desert area near Palm
Springs, CA. I have been
reading the msg board posts
for the past week or so and
have learned an amazing amount
of knowledge just by peeking in
on the interesting discussions.
I have already e-mailed John in VT
and Richard B to request seeds.
However, If anyone else has seeds
which they are willing and able
to share, please e-mail me at:

blackdiamond777777777777777@gmail.com

That is blackdiamond with fifteen (15)
7s after it. I thank you all in advance
and look forward to sharing, growing
and learning much more.

Presently, I am growing a variety of melons, watermelons, sunflowers and an assortment of vegetables. The weather is fantastic in the spring, autumn and winter - but BRUTALLY HOT in the summer. So, if there are any Super melon seeds floating around this board, I am certainly interested in receiving those also.

Thanks again,

Jett

Thank you for the warm welcome Darren C.
Yes, I know I will learn a lot. I have
already begun to apply some of the tips
gleaned from here. I have been performing
Google searches for the past year to try
and create the perfect environment for my
plants. However, I was pleasantly surprised,
after reading only a few hours, by how much
knowledge many of those posting in this msg
board possess. Thanks again for the Orange
welcome.

Thank you both for the Orange welcomes Steffff and So. Cal Grower. Just from the perusal of the board over the past couple weeks, I can tell that most of the people are not only very knowledgeable and helpful, but also fun-loving and empathetic. I like the fact that being competitive does not have to equate with being either devious or inconsiderate. There enough accolades and advantages for all. Thanks again and I hope you both have a great season next year.

So. Cal Grower, you live in the prestigious RPV area. My cousins live there, overlooking the beach. Nice. Are you (or anyone else reading this) aware of a forum for those of us who reside in the low desert areas? I certainly would like to glean some growing tips from them. I do not enjoy trying to reinvent the wheel. Thank you in advance,

Jett

Welcome to the forum Jett (just started posting on here a little over a month ago my self (first year at growing AG's for me)) there is plenty of knowledge here as you know and most can be found scrolling threw the years of posts and Diary's from the great growers and if you need to don't be afraid to post. As far as seeds go they will be flowing in about a month and a half as past year prove. I don't have any monsters but I managed a 800-900lbs and bearing that there are seeds in her I will send you an email this November.

happy hunting

Hey Brosco. The reason I joined this board and am here is because of the warm, nonjudgmental receptions I have read and received. I belong to several other gardening message boards and I have other usernames (I like to try and be creative with my names - nothing to hide). I would really appreciate both your e-mail and the seeds. Just let me know what I need to do to receive them. I'm stoked at belonging to such a fantastic group of people. At the end of the day, it's really the camaraderie that counts. Thank you for the tip on when to request seeds. I am certainly not averse to purchasing them either. There are no retail outlets for purchasing these gems. Thanks again, Brother. God Bless you.

Welcome, Keep reading the message board is my best advice. Never plan on another summer vacation again. Hang on for a wild ride.

Thanks AfVeteran. I have no children at home, so a summer vacation is rare for me anyhow - Although growing here could prove to be very challenging due to the intensely hot summer sun. 115 and above is quite common here in the summer. There were at least two - four weeks when the temps reached that and beyond this year. I suppose shade cloths may work, that is what I use for my melons. I am addicted to the reading. There is such a wealth of knowledge. Happy growing Brother.

Start a diary for yourself next spring with pics of progress. That way, more experienced people can chime in on what to do as you come across potential problems.
