Sent envelope in mail for seed request. Good luck with squash this year. Try to have Ron or yourself make a video on that growing year for both pumpkins and squash. Id definitly buy it. Also what is your seed selection this year? Wanted to know because you and Ron are pretty much ranked top growers for over the past 10 yrs. Have a nice Xmas and a happy growing season

at 12 and being new to the hobby? it will be very difficult to grow with success a field pumpkin much less a giant pumpkin. these are the harsh facts. its a lot harder than sticking a seed in the ground and watering it ----a mistake many new growers make.

i wish you the best for your efforts. this is not an easy hobby. soil and plant health through out the season are always a concern.

id suggest you concentrate on a healthy season long plant and let the pumpkin size be determined in that manner.
the biggest reason new growers come and go here is due to lack of early success.
it would be nice to see you make it in the hobby.

i remember a young man back in 1989 that made his mark in giant pumpkin growing.his name was alan nesbett and he still grows to this day.if i were you. id use him as a good example of what a young person can do if he/she puts their mind to it.

Good points pap. I think too many new growers go after a world record pumpkin their first year. I feel that like you said, get used to growing a giant pumpkin first. Get your soil in shape and work on plant training and pruning. When your confident with growing the plant, then spend the money and go after the big one.
