Hello All, I'm a complete newbie and just looking to grow a giant pumpkin with my boys aged 10 and 8. We tried Big Max a couple years ago with blah results. Does anyone have any seed to share that will do well in the hot and humid summers of the Raleigh area? I also volunteer as an Extension Master Gardener Volunteer and have been thinking about maybe having a pumpkin growing contest for a homeschool gardening group that I facilitate through the extension. there's a new southern growers club forming, also the North Carolina Giant Pumpkin Grower's. Try posting in the message board for growing in Southeast USA.

I go by either Pete or Peter - no worries. I actually sent you an email about seed before posting this. I'm not sure I'm going to get involved enough to join a club this year. Have to see how it goes with my boys and with the homeschool gardening group families. For now, I was looking for free seed if anyone's willing to share.
