It might still be too early to ask, but I am a newbie wanting to grow some GIANT pumpkins. I am getting my patch ready, and I would like seeds that will give me HUGE orange pumpkins, but I would also take seeds that produce lighter pumpkins too. The bigger the pumpkin, the better!! Also, is there such a thing as pumpkin vines that are resistant to squash bugs? :)

You can get seeds from previous years now, but this year's crop won't be ready until late October for the most part. Keep your eyes on this message board for updates. I may have some you can have.

Find a small book called Dick's tips, alot of info. Seeds Soil Sun & Luck! HollandsGiants.com, ExtremePumpkinStore.com have products, amendments, also have fertilizer programs. Pumpkinfanatic.com has alot of info. Growers this fall winter will post free seed offers from this years pumpkins, the way it works is you send them a self addressed stamped bubble envelope, they put the seeds in and return it, postage is around $2.75 (last I checked) also auctions over the winter, helps support clubs. Ask questions, use the site search.

Thank you for the replies! I have been reading everything I can on this site and I think my brain is on overload. I have printed off sheets of information, and I think I will order a book to read over the winter. I am kind of old to be jumping into this hobby right now. If only I had done it years ago like I wanted to do. I recently finished my second bout with breast cancer, and growing a giant pumpkin, was second on my bucket list of things to do after finishing chemo. Thank you again for the help!! Nancy

It is a extremely addicting hobby. Age does not matter, young or old, welcome.
