Its still early, you should write mr. Matheson. The Meier seeds are rarer than sasquash eggs.

Here is an update from 11-5-13 on the 2328 Meier 13 seeds:

"Beni's 2328 Meier 13 had only two perfect seeds. The third and fourth best were offered to EGVGA for seed auctions, but after a long discussion, they decided not to offer it(them)in an auction. The Board Members did not want to risk selling a seed for the expected price with bad (chances) to grow a healthy plant from it."

I did not know there was a 2328 Meier. Did it split open/rot or is it a myth?

too bad one of the greenhouse growers can't get ahold of the 2328 meier seeds and grow some 2nd generation plants for the rest of us... I'd pay the postage to get a seed (even a 5th best one) to the US.

Great idea Ben! The EGVGA could make a deal with a greenhouse grower. If the third and fourth best seeds were donated to a greenhouse grower and the plants produced seeds of their own the EGVGA could have dibs on the first 50(seeds). It seems like this would be the best case scenario for both the club and community. A (2328 x sib) cross... I think people would be interested.

If the EGVGA decided it would not be in their best interest to sell the #3 and #4 seed from the 2328 Meier 13 because of the risk of failure, those seeds will not see a greenhouse in the States. However, the 2328 Meier 13 was an accomplishment of the 2009 Wallace 12, both as seed and pollinator. Maybe, just maybe, the Wallace's can contact either Beni Meier or the EGVGA and get seed #1 or #2....
Just a thought.

"If the third and fourth seeds were donated" if the seeds don't grow then oh well at least someone tried.

I'm sure Beni will want #1 & #2 to grow next year. We may just have to wait until then for seeds from a 2328 cross.

Pumpking are sure that the pic of the monster from http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=209677 is the 2328 Meier? It is hard to tell the weight of the pumpkin on the sign in the pic.

It reads 1053.5 kg on the sign. That´s just 6 lbs less than the 2328, but this weight comes from another session on the scales, the first weight determined was 2328 lbs.

You mean 8 pounds less. 1053.5kg times 2.202kg equals 2319.8 lbs, Because 1 lb = 2.202kgs.

bossen, you are right :-) your conversion makes me more than happy, because my PB (421.6 kilo-gram) is 421600 gram, which thus should equal 928634 lbs...

no worries, I just did enjoy the meaning of the "," in our kind of representation of decimal digits (as we are used to using it in Germany). Of course, in your case 0,454 gram equals 454 gram (not 0.454 gram), and you are still right, but I can´t enjoy the happiness about the unexpectedly sudden new PB any longer ;-)
