Going Green

At the end of last season we talked about the continuation of the seed exchange where you send your finest and receive seeds from 49 other growers. This is for you to consider. If you are sending seeds from Giant Cantaloupe please send 5-7 seeds per seed packet with 50 seed packets to go to 50 growers! If you are sending seeds from an Alantic Giant then 1-2 per seed packet. Whatever you send please label each seed packet with the contents.

First off we will allow for 50 people. Each person in the exchange should send 50 pre-packed plastic (available at Walmart 100 small sealable envelopes for $1.29) envelopes labeled with size your name and type of seeds. You must also send $6.00 to cover postage, and envelope to mail the seeds to you. Upon receiving your seeds and $6.00 I will email you and this is your acknowledgement that you are in the seed exchange. No email, I never got your seeds. Europe and other countries take 21 to 30 days to reach America! The envelope that includes your 50 packages must have a letter inside with your name, address, city, state or country and your email address! Any Questions ask them here! I have the time and I love getting all the unique seeds from gardeners everywhere! This has always been fun and I trust the fun will continue. So when you harvest this fall please remember to harvest sufficient to join in the latest seed exchange. Express your interest here. We will organize and accept entry's from October till end of December and the packages will be mailed out in January!

Atlantic giant seeds were never in the original veggie seed exchange. I personally like to have all non giant pumpkin seeds. But I also appreciate you taking this over. Just my two cents.

I have been fortunate to win largest cantaloupe 4 years in a row and this year looks good. I will be sending seed from my largest cantaloupe of the year! Last year I grew a 39.8 pound but won on a 27.4 pounder at weigh-off! (Grown from the 46.6 Westfall) This year is looking even better! I also may have a new State record in Tomato. But I will wait and see! I am looking forward to the exchange!

Dandytown... all of us as growers would like to grow something different and see what we get! Happy to have your seeds from your best squash, AG's etc. Just as important we all want others to grow our seed. With 50 people growing cantaloupe from the 39.8 Wellington which is the (46.6 Westfall genetics) I am excited to see who grows the largest cantaloupe and where they are from!

Roundhead...In 2013 growing the 1135 Jutras my wife and I won both 1st and 2nd place. Because the fruit was picked early and the plant only 65 days old very few seeds were mature! Looking forward to those seeds from your fruit!
