I have sent out a few bubble packs to some of the better growers and they tell me that they are happy to send me some seeds. They just ask for the SASBP and maybe some of my seeds. My question is: do they really want the seeds from my 141 lb pumpkin? I have no clue about the genetic line of my pumpkin and am wondering if the seeds are of any value to anyone (other than me eating them). I know there are probably many first time growers in my same position. I worked my butt off for this pumpkin (ask my wife), but I also learned a great deal about what I did right and wrong this year.

Anyways, will anyone ever want these seeds, or am I just wasting my time trading them with other growers? I'm just afraid they will end up in the garbage when they see how small my pumpkin actualy was.

I plan to distribute the seeds of our lesser accomplishments. Not that I think hitters will grow them. But I meet folks everyday that find our sport interesting. So I typed up a 14 point instruction handout which I print on a quarter sheet of paper with the URL of this website, the local ag stations phone number, & my email address on it. I keep a few copies & some seeds in the glove compartment of my truck. As I meet folks who seem genuinely interested in pursuing the hobby, I hand over the "starter package". Probably less than 10% will ever do anything with them. But here in town, the "Pumpin Guy" gives folks a crack at it. And who knows what luck might bestow upon the seeds.

Spread them around. Bill Bobier got his start someplace humble too you know.

It's true, and 141 pounds is giant for most people too.

Steve, I too have come across many people who are intersted in AGP's as well. I wonder if you could post your 14 point instructions. I would like to try the same thing. I believe anything we can do to promote pumpkin growing helps all of us in the long run.
