I will personally vouch for Rick's generosity. When I needed seeds for germination experiments, he came through last winter in a HUGE way!

I was able to give good quality seeds to 300 elementary school students as a result of his generosity. They weren't all planted. But just yesterday I learned of another "special carver" that came to a local family via Illinois! :O)

Thank's again Rick!

If he should happen to send to you a 865 Mettler, it is probably the one I sent to him that he promised would be grown and crossed with a true 935 Lloyd. I think that he believes that the sibbs are the same thing. He sent me a 805????Pukos. He has promised to send me back my 865 Mettler, but I don't think that I will ever see it. I think that he traded it away in his previous seed exchnge posts. Well, sorry to vent here, but the promises that he made to me have been to no avail on his part.

Hey Case, the 865 that Lincoln sent for your club to give away and I got from you apparently was bogus. Could you tell Mr. Mettler to stop sending out his bogus seeds. It really screws it up for the rest of us. LOL Kinda funny that a seed sent from mettler himself looks bogus, Rick!

Oh, Rick could you please send it back with the packet that Mettler sent it in to the CWPG. And if you grew the other 3 865s, then where in the hell did you get the others to trade. Look back on your posts in the seed exchange. "865s to trade". Things just don't add up. And please don't send me back an 865 sibb seed.

Quite simply I admit Ive made too many seed trades for my own good over the last year or so. As Rock Rivard once said sometimes you need to get it out of youre system before you realize that youre probably wasting youre own time. Having said that Ive handled enough seeds to be able to ID most seeds correctly especially the 845 Bobier seed. Rick the 845 you sent me was a good one but flat out it missed on color match when compared to several others and I have little to no doubt it was a fake probably a 909.5 lloyd seed. If you recall I traded you an 865 for that one and some others. I feel it important to simply warn the community when a hazard is still at large and people can waste 5 months of there good time growing a fake. Why you refused to answer my emails when I informed you of my findings only you know. One last thing. Kyle I thought you learned youre lesson last year, but wherever any controversy exists you always rear youre ugly head.

Kenny, This is true. 865 mettler seeds are HUGe seeds. The one i traded you went to rick huh? Well, that 865 i got as a very nice present from the PGVG (Lincoln Mettler didnt want it auctioned off) so brett hester and the PGVG sent it to me of all people. That was one of the coolest things i have recieved and was very much a surprise.

Rick...that 865 is real, i dont know what you think is wrong with it. Send it back to kenny so i can trade kenny back for it and grow it....lol.

Also, i dont quite remember the what the packet looked like, but if i do recall correctly, it was an original seed packet from Lincoln Mettler with a label on it as 865 mettler and such. Otherwise, it might have been a PGVG label...but I am 100% sure the PGVG wouldnt send me something thats not what it says on the seed packet.

geeze rick...how are you going to get yourself out of this one? you can defend yourself all you want. People will read this post and make their own opinions whatever they may be. The best thing you can do is make it right...whatever might be out of whack.

Kenny, if you want it sent to the cwpg, might as well have him send it to me, but you had the seed last. You probably looked at it and it would most likely be best if you look at it first.

The PGVG will and has NEVER sent a fake seed, now if someone starts playing games with the contents after the packet is sent out, well then thats just sad. I personally have a problem with all you seed traders out there anyway, how many seeds can you grow? Yet It allways seems to be the same "Growers" wanting more, more, more, and then trading what they are freely given. Several that have posted here have allready burnt their bridges with me and I wouldn't sell them a seed much less give them anymore. Yea, it's the off season....

Not pointing any fingers but this is why I don't like trading seeds with growers who trade a lot of seeds. I like getting the seed directly from the grower or if thats not possible then will trade with growers I trust and whom got the seed directly from the grower. If the seed has passed thru too many hands it seems the chances of it being real are slim. I trade only one or two seeds a year and will only trade a seed if I got it directly from the grower. I just traded a 783 for a 805 pukos for my mother. I received about 10 offers and what it came down to 1) did they get it directly from Joe,2) do I trust them,3)if they make a lot of seed trades, I didn't want to take a chance. As each year passes it is more evident that fraud is taking place as more growers enter this sport and it is very unfortunate. Thank God we have BP because growers can watch from the sidelines and make a educated decision on who to trade with and who not to. And by reading this post there are a few more I won't be trading with, again thank you BP.

I feel shammed.... I sent Rick (over a year ago)over a lb of AG seed because he desperately needed some for his commercial crop. Then later I find out that he has given seed away to schools and made trades that appear to be questionable.

If anyone would like pictures of the seeds I sent Rick just email me.....Tom

If you distributed your seeds through SeedOutlet.com then you wouldn't have to worry about any of this:)

Good point Brent...

I myself have traded alot of seeds as I was starting up a Seed Bank after a failed effort at trying to start a growers association.

Well do to very high interest now in the Association and a new weigh-off in Western Canada and the new Seed Outlet.

The Seed Bank is CLOSED. 95% of my seeds has come by way of the growers themselves for either the association or the seed bank and has generously been handed out to new growers and others who wanted some good seed that got proven this year.

From now on I will only be trying to obtain seed for my wife's and my personal growing and of course the Association's raffle/seminar. I in no way want the seed or reputation of the association's or my wife's and myself tainted in any way so now I will only be dealing with the growers themselves or a select few of trusted growers and of course SeedOutlet.com.

It's sad it has come to this as I enjoyed giving away seed to all that asked. But all that it would take is one bad seed and I will not take that risk.

I can guarentee all seeds that will come up in our Association's raffle that you growers will here about later and info will be posted on were the seed came from. Only those known to be authentic will be raffled off.

burrhead, get in touch with the PGVG.ORG, and join up, they have a fine seed distribution program for members. Oh yea and one of their members holds the current word record pumpkin :)
