I got theses seeds from a collector in CT. Here's the description:
...derived from a cross between a 792 lb. pumpkin and a 682 lb. pumpkin. The 792 produced the largest pumpkin ever grown in New England (up to that time), a 914 lber. The 682 lber. had a very thick shell and won the most beautiful giant pumpkin in 1996. The 682 has produced an 830 lber. and an 818 lber. The 682 was derived from a 567.5 lber, the most prolific 700-900 pound producer of all time.

I have about 5 of these left and can e-mail a pic (of the pumpkin) that came with them or post a link. They are pictured along with some other seeds I got this year at:

The Holland 792 produced the 914 Weir.
The 682.4 Castelluci produced the 818 Jervis, though I found no record of an 830.
The 682.4 Castellucci came from the 1992 Holland 722 and the 1992 Mombert 567.5(one of the greatest seeds of all time!)

p.s. Do I get a prize?

The 682.4 would be a Castellucci 682.4 grown in 1996. the 792 is a holland 792 grown in 1993. I cannot find a pumpkin on the AGGC that was crossed from these 2 but the 792 has thrown numerous large orange fruit & the 682.4 has also proven to be good so the seed you have has great genetics & would probably be a very good seed to plant.....Paul

If you come up to the Clarence Weigh-off, I'll buy you a shot or 2 of it. Black label, of course, NY don't have the green label. We go to PA for green. (roots are in Scranton/WB area.) Or if I get to the GREAT metropolis of Connellsville, or the Pittsburgh Parts-O-Rama.

If this thread ends here, thanks to kilr & Paul. (Haven't heard back from Paul...)

So, who/what are my seeds from, an abort or a disqualification or someone's backup or 2nd or 3rd--maybe it "fell off the wagon?"

Here's the latest info from the person I got the seeds from:
<PASTE>
Actually the cross that was produced was grown by me. I think Im loosing my
marbles. It was extremely round and was a light orange kind of tan hugh to
it. I have a picture of it since it ended up in our hometime newspaper.
Therefore the pumpkin would be The Garrell 325. That doesnt sound too
impressive but that should give you almost the complete geneology of the
seeds. David Garrell MD
<END PASTE>

Does this mean he had planted a Holland 792 seed and a Castellucci 682 seed? Or does it mean someone else crossed these 2 and he planted those seeds? He previously mentioned "Dear Mark , What I wrote in the add was the exact description the seeds were
given by Don Langevin the author of How to grow World Class Pumpkins , they
didnt have a name on them. Sorry you will have to contact Don and see if he
has the name and weight of the pumpkins."

Does this clarify things or confuse things even more?
