HI
I am going to start my 1st Giant Pumpkin Patch this spring.

Does everyone save seeds to trade here for the next year?
I am new to how this all works and many of you have been a great help.
I have some interest in the Bobier. I don't know if anyone has any seeds from one of these or maybe has a pumpkin with a Bobier parent? I sure would like to get a seed or two. Any Ideas where I could come across one of these?
Thanks!

my 699 Schroeder is mostly Bobier genes(3 of 4 grandparents are the 845 Bobier and the other is the 922 Emmons). I think it's a good cross, but you never know until its grown. The seeds are available here at B.P. com. If the site is out of the seeds, e-mail me and i'll get you some.

If you go to the home page and click on the seeds link on the left side of the page under Main Menu there is a 301 Boyton and a 280 Garrell and another Garrell that are all bobier offspring you can get these seeds for free + the cost of shipping.

Thanks
I did actually go to the seed site and put in a request. I did request the Schroeder. I don't know if I will get any, there were alot of requests! Now you call your pumpkin this because this is a breed you have created, correct? Hope that is not a dumb question.... I have very little pumpkin lingo at this time!

calling the pumpkin by your name is the "lingo". Whatever seeds you grow this year (doesn't matter) when you get the pumpkin, say it weighs 945 pounds, it then will be know as the 945 Doeski.

Hope that helps,

Mike

No question is a dumb question. And I can answer your question. For example I grew a 370.6 pound pumpkin in 2003. I am Alex Noel. Therefore my pumpkin is "named" the 370.6 Noel '03. It's not a seperate breed just a seperate cross. Alex.

Did you know there is a giant vegetable growers association in Vermont? If your interested in joining e-mail me privatley. I can let you know more details. It's a great way to meet other growers in the area and also a good way to get seeds for next season.
