I met a gentleman, should have written down his name, at the Sacramento Airport in early March who had just been to a Big Pumpkin Conference in Sacramento. I noticed his shirt with the BIG PUMPKIN logo and we chatted. I grew pumpkins in Napa as a kid and now grow some in Arlington Wash for my grandkids. I would love to get some Big Pumpkin Seeds to grow. My son has some great gardening ground in rural Arlington. All I have is a green thumb. Would someone help me out? Thankyou, Steve Younger youngersf@gmail.com

Hey Steve, I’d be happy to send you some free quality proven seeds. Also, there are lots of Washington State growers that will hopefully chime in and offer you local seeds or even a free extra seedling that they may have sprouts. Washington State Growers are the best.

Welcome aboard, Steve! The Pacific Northwest Giant Pumpkin Growers is a great club. https://pnwgpg.com/
I'm happy to send you some seeds, but I am self-isolating and not visiting the post office due to a large Corona Virus outbreak in the immediate area, yikes! I hope that some other growers have shared some good seeds with you. If not, the club may have some seedlings available to you, or know who does.
I hope you are staying safe and healthy, Steve! Read through this website for more info about giant pumpkin growing and post questions to the New Growers Forum. Glad you are here!

From an email from the PNWGPG:
"Obviously there is a tremendous amount of uncertainty towards future events right now. However, your board is pleased to announce that there will be at least 1 GPC Sanctioned weigh off this year. It may or may not be a "normal" weigh-off, it may involve some social distancing techniques- but Christianson's Nursery in Mount Vernon will be having a weigh off on Saturday Sept 19. So you can plan your seed planting accordingly and will receive and official weight. We are working closely with our other sites to determine what the interest and functionality of possible weigh-offs may be and will keep you updated as events warrant. Keep in mind, whatever weigh offs that do get held may not come with normal or perhaps any sponsor prize money. Ribbons will be provided by the club this year as opposed to the GPC, which is the smart thing to do from a financial standpoint. Again save the date Saturday Sept. 19th at Christianson's- there will be a sanctioned weigh off. More details on that as we get closer- and you will hear any other news as it becomes official.
Thank you"
