Hello everyone, after studying all the good advices how to grow up pumpkins I´ve started a competition in May 2000 together with two friends over here in Cologne / Germany. We used Big Max which is the only seed available here for bigger pumpkins. Till now it was a very hot and dry summer between 80 - 95° F, and my 3 plants with one piece/each look fine. There was some stress with powdery mildew, but I used a sulfur emulsion to keep the leaves alive. Cutting and weighoff is planned for Sep 29th. I will post some pics about it at www.flohberg.net. And now this is my request to your community: Can anyone help us with some seeds for our 2002 competition after your 2001 weighoffs? Or would it be okay to start with Dill´s Atlantic Giant? I don´t think anyone else in Germany does, so it would be fun. Best regards and best wishes!

I forgot to give some wheather information: 40-65° F May/June, 65-90° July/August, 30-60° Sep./Oct., rain is spread over time, hot and dry times are rare. Soil is basically good and ready for improving. This is a backyard project among other vegetable and fruits.

Yes, we would be happy to send you some seeds. The BigPumpkins.com seed distribution for 2001 will start around the middle of November. I am sure other growers on this site would be happy to send you seeds too.
