I grew the mombert 934 this year . The heat took it " heat index in excess of 135 degrees". But I still have 1 934 left & I would not trade it for anything . This plant grew great, fast grower & threw alot of females . At one time I had pollinated 20 females on the 1 plant. By the way my plot is only 400 square feet. so you can see that is alot of females. What I'm trying to say is YES it is a good seed.......Paul

I want one of those! I need something that will stand up to this heat. Do you think if I send him a sase and ask for one he'll send it? so far my best plants for the heat are my 974.5 Eaton and 600 Desrosiers. Paul where did you get yours? Thanks, Tom

jdboy!
Teses are good seeds to have! Kirk Mombert grew 2 940 pumpkins, one in 1998, and 1 in 2000! The 1998 fruit was pollinated with the 567.5#, and grown on the 866 Mombert, (which was grown on the 567.5 Mombert.) The 2000 Mombert 940, was grown on the 567.5, and pollinated by the Stelts 801.5. Both "grandparents" of the Stelts 801.5 had 567.5 Mombert genetics. The 567.5 Mombert will(and has) gone down in history as the "seed of all seeds". All offspring produce nice round, very orange pumpkins. I'll take a Mombert seed anyday, even the "lowly" 567.5!Don't ask if I have any 934's or 940's, cuz I ain't tellin!
p.s. Tom, Are there any seeds that you DON'T WANT?

Tom, I wouldn't worry as much about " heat tolerant" as the extreme heat would affect ALL AG's. Also you never know what next year holds. Yes the heat took me out this year, but last year in Ohio we only had 2 days all summer where the temp. rose above 90 degrees. So I can't worry about things I can't control such as the heat. What I do try to do is find crosses that will give me what I am looking for that year. For example this year I'm going for green , so I try to find the best possible cross to give me that. Not necessarily the largest squash seed , but the best cross. So far the best I've come up with is Glen Andrews 218 crossed with the Inzero 411 . This might not sound impressive but I think it will give me what I'm looking for. What I'm trying to say is spend a little time on the AGGC site ( which I think is a GREAT site) and I think you will see some of the seeds you have are a lot better than you think. I'm sure at one time no one wanted to plant the 567.5 either..........Paul

Kilr, I want them to grow and to send them of to other people who will grow them. Really, I will probably only plant 5-10 seeds. I'm really trying to make the next good cross as well as growing a big one, I have some for one or the other and some for both, like the 805 Pukos. Paul, I'm after the crosses that prodce, BIG AND ORANGE. Like the 823 Mombert you sent me. I have tried AGGC, every time I try to log in it doesn't recognise me, and I am a member.

I heard they have combined genes from a Tomato plant and a Flounder (Fish) to make the Tomato somewhat freeze resistant.

So now we need to combine an Atlantic Giant gene with a Whale gene and we might have something there :)

Farmer S., I like your 547 because it looks like a good cross to me, even if not orange it will still be big. I want orange ones for decorations, I could carve a white one into a gohst. Kilr, a lot of times I'm being sarcastic when I say "Whoa, I want one of those. I would take a 940 or 934 if some one offered it, the one I would trade for is the 866. Tom
