I know almost nothing about Squash. So here's my Pumpkin list.
The top 5 producers are like asking for free gold. It just doesn't happen. This isn't my AGGC computer. But I'd guess the real top 5 would look like this:
723 Bobier 854 Bobier 846 Calai 705 Stelts 805 Pukos 801 Stelts
OK. Sue me. I thought of 6. But these will take some serious negotiating to obtain.
It would be more realistic to consider top performing seeds from after 2001 since the top performers from 2000 & earlier are the most difficult to obtain & trade at auction for as much as $300-$500 each.
Since this years weight totals aren't in yet, I'll just wager a guess at a few future hotties that will be getting harder to find:
996 Bobier 1097 Beachy 842 Eaton 1370 Rose 950.4 Boynton 898 Knauss
Others with potential that probably didn't get enough dirt thrown at them yet. I'd like to see these seeds first generation progeny if they'd just get planted by veteran growers. Most of these shouldn't be too hard to get. Some are just copies of existing proven crosses. Others are unique for their time & haven't been grown.
538 & 543 Wells 1074 Calai 237 & 807 Beachy 736 Garrell 1367.5 Rose 707 Toftness 1027 Hopkins 307 Little 566 Reynolds 1037.5 Bobier 1029 Nesbitt

You cant forget the Wentzell seeds that Lisa and Roger produce each year ether, they have grown many over the 1000lbs range and to many to count around the 700 to 900 mark. Brooks

Which Wentzell seed(s) do you consider top seeds? I can't imagine any... maybe the 914 but I wouldn't consider it as a top seed. Martin

I just checked AGGC. The 914 has a definite place in history as it has contributed to some other important genetics. Here the progeny list:
2....1000+ 1.....900+ 4.....800+ 9.....700+ 9.....600+ 6.....500+
By aqverage weight of progeny in descending order of rank the top 10 list stands correct:
723 Bobier.......20 1000+ 845 Bobier..........error 846 Calai........14 1000+ 805 Pukos.........5 1000+ 705 Stelts........5 1000+ 898 Knauss........4 1000+ 801 Stelts........4 1000+ 1230 Deletas......3 1000+ 790 Deletas.......2 1000+ 875 Dill..........2 1000+ (Mom was 914 Wentzell)
The top 10 list is not ranked by the number of high weights, but rather the average weight. Thus the tie for 1000+ progeny.
