I was wondering if there are any Atlantic Giant seeds that you could recommend for a first time giant grower?

I grew some regular sized pumpkins this year. And, that was fun. But, I want some big boys (or, girls might be more accurate) in my yard.

Also, I will be growing in a relatively small space. Our garden is small, but the yard is big enough to let the vines go where they must. Are there any particular crosses that thrive under such conditions?

How small of a space do you have? The 658 Emmons has grown a few nice sized pumpkins in small spaces (my 716 this year and Carlos Perez in Spain got a 568 last year). I only had 375 square feet, but would have liked more. E-mail me and I can send you some seeds from it in a month or so when they are dried.

In the links area of this website you should find Howard Dill's & P and P seed companies. Both sell open pollinated Atlantic Giant seeds for noncompetitive growers that are well suited to your goals.

or, you can email me and we'll do the bubble-pack thing with some nice crosses i have made from '01 and '02 and '03 and '04. these seeds will "contain" genetics from the
845 Bobier, 1140 Stelts, 706.5 Willemse, 815 Checkon,
728.5 Gerry, 801 Black, etc. all good crosses that need to be tried. if you have your heart set on just ONE pumpkin plant, though, for like 600 square feet, intensely vine-buried and pruned, perhaps a 950.4 Boyton will give you a run for your "money". it is hard to think of any that would do BETTER in a small space---i suppose they all stand about the same chance. good luck-----eric gerry

the 950 boyton is a hot weather seed, not sure how it would do in canada. I have some 980 kuhn selfed seeds, you are welcome too if you want, my 120 grown for genetics. email if interested:) Jimmy

Marc,
I grew a nice 500lb. pumpkin on the 869.5 Calai in about 200 square feet.

If you only have a small patch and cant spread out laterallty you still have the option of making the good soil deeper and expand your patch vertically by adding compost and manure, etc...

Don't think it matters too much what seed you plant but anything that produces the color and shape you want that was grown in your type of climate would be the best bet in my unprofessional opinion.

My pb in 4 years is a mere 595lbs.
Best regards,
Michel
