I have just received an e-mail from John in southern California, who planted my 2000 478# seed (obtained free from this site), and without a lot of care produced a 650# u.o.w. pumpkin. Add to this, the Riverview School Kids, who grew a 429#(est.) from this seed. I gave well over 200 seeds away to this site, and have only heard from 3 who actually grew them. If your just "sittin" on 'em, you may consider trying a "killer" pumpkin next year! Anyone else that grew the 478# this year, please contact me and let me know how you did.

I always wondered why that was U.O.W. and not U.W.

I dont know but my guess is that it was to make all of the designations the same amount of characters, Est.= estimated weight, Exh., Exhibition only, and UOW.

There are alot of seed collectors out there. I think they bring them to the taxidermist for a wall mount !!!!!

I have a mountian of seeds from mine and other "farmers" seasons past. I only wish I could grow em all. I will have to give alot away this year, or roast them for dinner. I think the key is in the soil.

Gads I think it is also water, weeding, and vine management.

Gerry & John, you two both forgot the other uncontrollable factor: LUCK!
