And you turnned around tryinng to swap it on B.P.///Bad feelings could arrise???? , You would be making your nest for next year????? On the other hand if youve won, or bought it thats difffferant??? Is this how you feel??? DBH

Some growers are starting to label seeds "Not for swap/sale/trade". Most don't mind. But if the urge to swap a given seed arises, it seems fitting to contact the grower who gave it to you & ask their permission. Some growers, especially those who harvest few seeds from a given fruit, give seed under the pretense that the requestor was planning to grow the seed. If that is the case, & the seed is later traded, who wouldn't be offended?
When in doubt, ask.

There's a wide variety of opinions on this and I don't personally care once one of my seeds is sent out what happens to it because it's no longer my property once I give it away but it's a good idea to ask the grower and I often ask the grower if they want their seed back and most of the time they don't....like Tremor said.
One example of this is when I sent Joe P my last 805 because he had run out of them himself... Michel

If they were my seeds, and you sent me a bubble pack for them, then later traded them, wouldn't bother me. I figure if you don't want to plant them, then get them in the hands of someone who does. But if you sent me a bubble pack saying you wanted to grow it, then went and traded it without asking, I might get a little upset.

Ditto what Ben said....don't say you're gonna grow it unless you are. Otherwise, fair game If I agree to send them under no stated pretenses.

if i were to send a bubble pack full of my own seeds to another grower, i would expect that grower to grow any or all of those seeds at least once before trading them out to another grower or using them to build up a cache of proven seeds or whatever. kind of like when somebody leaves your party and grabs a few cans of beer on the way out, it's like hey! drink 'em here or not at all! same with the seeds, if they were sent to YOU, YOU are to grow them, at least once! if the seed-supplier is okay with it though, then there you go, but.... if the seeds were bought, or received from a giveaway, then i feel the game is different, do what you want in that instance......eric

I think what the grower who sends you seeds really wants is his seeds to be grown.
I probably get 200/+ packs of seeds each year and I would love to grow at least half of them as they have nice crosses but are still untried. But where to grow them all and the time it takes to care for them? Impossible! I also get many seeds that are already proven over 1000lbs but even those proven ones are still too many to grow for me. Impossible to grow them all! I have to select the ones that have the most desirable characteristics for me.
So, I think if I get a good seed but can't grow it myself it is the interest of the grower who sent it to me that I give it to someone who will grow it, either in a trade for a seed that I would like to try or for free.
When I send out my own seeds I would rather like to see them being traded to someone who grows them than being kept in the fridge of the original recipient to collect dust.
