Port Elgin "PUMPKINFEST" has scheduled the 4th annual International Giant Pumpkin Growers Seminar & Seed Bazaar in Niagara Falls. The Seminar is From 8:30 am to about 4:30 pm. The day before there will be a gathering of many Growers starting at 2 pm. It all takes place at Ameri-Cana Resort located at 8444 Lundy's Lane. You can obtain all the Seminar details by clicking on the "PUMPKINFEST" link on this site. Then click on "Ontario Growers Seminar" The info there says to pre-register by March 15. I just received their Newsletter which says to pre-register by March 30. You can do that by calling 1-800-387-3456. The cost includes lunch and is $25 US or $35 Canadian, and they accept VISA and Master Card. I have attended 3 of their previous Seminars and always learn something new.

Who else on this list is going? Tried posting the following questions to the pumpkins list with no luck: <paste> I'm going to my first seminar Sunday, but besides the schedule of events listed, what do I need? I mean, do I bring a notebook, camcorder, laptop, etc, does the hotel have internet kiosks/access, etc? I'm still having hotel reservations problems, but am close enough to drive back & forth, don't think I'll know anyone there, looks like many of you are staying Sunday night since I can only (maybe) get a room for Saturday night. And who hogging all the Jacuzzi suites? My other 1/2 hates anything I do related to gardening, from tomatoes to pumpkins, so not sure if there's a reason to bring her (besides, how can I go to the "entertainment" bars a block or 2 away & will I be the only one going?) Plus with nothing available for Sunday, she'd have to vacate the room right when all the good stuff starts. Just changed some money over, $100 US got me $148 CAN.
Sooo, is anyone bringing electronics? is anyone not bringing other 1/2? is anyone coming in Saturday? is anyone going out Saturday, BESIDES the casino? is this gonna be like a big party or like school?
Someone? Anyone? HELP! Mark

korney19: I'm only driving over to the Seminar on Sunday. I can't answer all of your Questions, but here is what I know. I know a lot of good growers who will be there Saturday. If you are pre-registered, they will have a "package" ready for you, which in the past has included handouts and paper for taking notes. I doubt that you will see any electronics, other than possibly some tape recorders. In the past, not many growers brought their "other 1/2" as you put it. Your "other 1/2" could go to the Casino and possibly get lucky while you are at the Seminar. Its open 24/7.
