We hope to make the newly organized European Giant Vegetable Grower's Association the place to be for giant veg growers all over the world. If you are interested in joining and sharing your expertise take a look at:
www.freewebs.com/egvga
Not only will we offer info on growing various giant vegetables on our webpage, but our newsletters will contain even more practical information and our seed packages will offer all kinds of seeds, from giant Kelsae onions to sunflowers and squash.

Looks like another pumpkin site trying to include other giants. I noticed from the website, that you are doing a late seed exchange. It's a good way to disperse seeds.
April will be too late for starting watermelons, so it wouldn't be too great for this year. But maybe for the future.

Giant veg growers here tend to live in a quite closed community, especially in the UK. The EGVGA would love to get them involved, but it might not happen. We are also trying to get pumpkin growers (which generally belong to a much more open community) to try other giant veg. Our website will include more and more info on other giant veg and our first newsletter will also.
Watermelon growing in many parts of Europe is very challenging due to short summers or low temperatures and very much rain.
If you have any extra watermelon seeds which we could distribute for next year, let us know. If you are able to write an article on how to grow watermelons, I'll make sure it gets published.
Thanks for your support.

I would be willing to help next year, and I have sent some seed to various places in Europe already. I always include a list of mt growing tips for Watermelons.
I can feel for you with the growing season, after all, I live in Minnesota. This is why I start my melon plants indoors a full 100 days before they go into the garden.
