How long before planting should I slice seed potatoes that have multiple 'eyes'? Some people say slice them and wait to plant them until they scab over, while others say to slice em at planting time, and I'm a little confused as to who's right.

Slice them and let them get some air the night before....A light dusting of sulfur is also benificial. Potatoes like acidic soil. This help prevent scab..

Thanks! Would aluminum sulphate work? I don't have any sulfur.

I have never used aluminam sulphate. I like single drop seed potatoes, smaller than a chicken egg, size of a quarter to half-dollar shape. I have notice an increase of yield rather than cutting em. I can generally get 8-10 single drops per pound.

But if u have to cut em, linus is right. When u cut I always wear thick leather gloves so I don't cut myself. I never go at an angel but rather curved so I don't cut an eye.

soaking them over night in a humic acid bath works great. Instead of the usual one to two big taters per hill I have had up to 6 per hill just makes for a healthier tater I think.
