I have a dozen or so Howden plants and about 20 others to give away in October. When would be the best time to start pollinating these pumpkins to last until October? Also, and tips on maximizing a plant? I am think of growing 3 Howdens per plant- Are they like AGs the further out the better? Thanks, Jeff

To late and they will not turn orange. The plant know when..now is good...spray a fungicide to prevent PM and spray the stems well

there isnt any need to polinate them unless your keeping the seeds, just let them grow and they will set their own pumpkins 1-2 per plant all other will fall off by themselfs and around september they will turn orange... dont worry about them not lasting, they will last past christmas as long as the dont have any disease.

1-2 per plant? more like 4-5 and up depending on rain, and temperature..Biggest limiting factor with a Howden is Powdery Mildew.
