In exchange for my husband digging up the yard to make a pumpkin patch, I promised Id grow him some watermelons. Only problem is I know about as much about watermelons as I do about hydraulic engineering! Is there a 'how to' website or something someone can point me to? I have some 'sugar baby' seed started, I was told they are good eating melons. I have some giant watermelon seed, but I was unsure if they good to eat.
Id appreciate any advice :)

Tammy, treat them about the same as your pumpkins. Check the label on your sprays, most that work on AG's work on melons. Black plastic works well to help keep the weeds down but you will need to pin the vines down, not to tight, so they don't whip around in the wind. Melons like heat, start indoors for early or outside after about May 1.
Any questions e-mail me, I grow commercially. The giants can be eaten too! The watermelon growing forum people WILL be glad to help. brotherdave01@aol.com
