I have a corn variety that says it matures in 70 days. Can I plant some in early July for an early September harvest? Will corn grow faster in the middle of the summer because of warm soil and temperatures?

i have tried it had tassles 3 feet tall and tiny ear wont be doing it again theres reasons why spring is planting time

In CT you can plant sweet corn up to the first week of July. If you can, plant a variety with rust resistance. The cooler dew filled nights of September are ideal for rust.

The matures in 70 days I think is figure on Growing Degree Days. Towards the fall you start losing these.

I m not sure how Ohio compares to California but here in california you could plant past the end of July into august!
