I have been growing carrots for 25 years, this year some of them are starting to go to seed, I have never had that happen and I usually [with frost protection] leave them in the ground most of the winter. What should I do? pick them now?

carrots only send up seed heads their second year, if they have a seed head on them they are most likely to woody and have too many hair roots to eat them. you can either let the seed heads mature, dry them and save the seed or you can just pull them out and feed em to a horse

I had many do that for me too. It must have been the type of weather we had here in New England. I like mid's idea of saving the seed. I already pulled out my flowering ones. No more have started flowering since.
