What are your thoughts on cloned plants? Do they perform just as good as the mother plant or any other plant, not just giant pumpkins any plant. Thanks

I'd echo cojoe. It seems that without question the clones would provide 'top stud material' so to speak. Cloning seems to be well worth it for that aspect alone.
However it really remains to be seen whether the clones will perform with as much vigor as a new plantlet. Need to see some data on this one. In theory they should perform like the mother, however my experience with subdividing flowering tobacco (an annual) for several years would indicate that the clone goes downhill over time. THAT being said, fruit trees go on and on for hundreds of years performing quite well. Maybe you can bring this one up this winter when everyone's bored, lol.
