Subject: when do i trim the roots on my heavy carrots?

hello all this is my first year with heavy carrots ,,i need some help from the masters lol and i lost most of you guys emails,,,my plants are big and hardy but in a toilet roll sized container roots are starting to come down through now,, how long do i wait?

If you are going to trim the roots then just take the very tip off when you transplant. I don't trim the roots at all, just transplanting seems to work for me.

cornish giant do you still get the muti tipped heavy carrots with out trimming them?i want some thing odd looking to show off

I usually get a big main root with several small roots around it.

...2012 my first year with heavy carrots, just transplanted them, and most of them developed a thick main root with several additional roots, just like Cornish Giant said. Here´s an example of what I had found when I picked my carrots:
