It seems that this past winter was too harsh for some of the strawberries in our patch. We lost quite a few and the strawberries we are getting are not very good. I wanted to replace some of the plants, but I know it is getting pretty late. Question is, can I plant some plants still and will they be alright for next year? I will pinch off the blossoms so the plants will focus on roots and plant growth.

For commercial production we plant new plants every year in September. With care the plants typically increase rapidly in size producing 3-6 crowns at the base of each plant before freeze. Harvest in May-June and plow under in Julyish and repeat. Rotate field/patch yearly to reduce diseases and weeds. We grow on raised plastic beds with 1 dripline under plastic. Two rows of plants on 14" centers 14" apart on each row of plastic.
