Years ago I was in a group doing some testing for the University of Minnesota; one test was to compare the output of fruit on pepper plants, if you planted one per planting site or two. The result of the group testing showed the output of the two per site was approx. 1/3 more than the one per site. It maybe an option for you to try, especially if you have extra plants.

I always plant my peppers in an 8x4 space square foot style. That way the leaves just touch each other and helps control weeds later in the season . Works well for me !

The most important thing for peppers is planting them in black plastic mulch. It makes a HUGE difference in the quality of the plant and amount of fruit produced, and is almost a necessity if you are growing in cooler climates. If you've never done this, you'll be amazed at the results, plus you get weed control.

Critch, start 2 seeds in your starting container and plant them together in one growing spot without separating them. Larry suggestion will also help produce a plentiful crop.
