I have entered a zucchini contest in my area. Never grown one before for size. The seeds are normal zucchini seeds and the contest is for biggest/heaviest zucchini. How many days will these things grow if left on the plant? I am trying to time when I start. Oct 13th is the contest and my climate is hot, low 80's on cool day, 100 plus on hot days. Seed to harvest day guess would be great if anyone has ever tried to max out a zucchini. Thanks, Jim

The hotter it is, the shorter they grow. I'd say about 30 days in those temperatures. You can keep them on the plant for a while, so 40 days might be a save bet.

If you are growing multiple plants you might want to try growing a couple early and letting them grow. They grow fast and max out quickly.. Funny how you may not see one and a few days later you have one that's 2 1/2' long and weighs 7-10 lbs. Great for bread not much else.
