What do people in the health field think?

By the way it is very long and I do not expect anyone to read the whole thing.

Overweight people are at a higher risk from Covid.

People who are overweight are at higher risk for many diseases. This is why it has been recognized as a risk factor and why overweight people have been moved closer to the front of the line for immunization. Overweight people are not always to blame. The cheaper foods, all they might be able to afford, contains much more carbohydrate and less protein. This leads to them being heavier. Look when you go to the grocery store and see how many isles are filled with high carbohydrate foods and how many with proteins. McDonalds, potato chip companies, cookie makers and soft drink companies contribute to the problem.

They banned tobacco ads because smoking was bad for people(including second hand)

They banned alcohol ads because it too was deemed not great.

Obesity is considered a very major problem.

So why not?

Good point Spudder, not sure how people draw the line with those. But I don't think obese models should be glorified. I spend way too much time having a strict diet (no sugar for 3 years except one day a week) to feel sorry and accepting of those who just eat what they want.

Older people with slower metabolisms and those with underlying conditions like a thyroid disorder are not who I am talking about. I am talking about young, would be healthy, mostly Americans who eat shit daily.

My state taxes lemonade because it has too much sugar. What a bunch of Grinches. If they wanted to be fair about taxing things that are unhealthy pretty much the whole store would be taxed...

That is my point. Fast food ads, flyers, sponsership etc.
are helping cause a major health problem that is why tobacco and alcohol were clamped down upon. So why the free ride for other problem causers?
When I was a kid pop, chips and candy were treats maybe once a week. Fast food was once a month if that and have you noticed how many of them are within walking distance of schools(at least in my area).

Uncanny is right about the cost of bad food to good food.
