after unknown drams of single malt scotch......
access to many books of poetry...my favorite for sure was emily dickinson

because i could not stop for death it kindly stopped for me

very few of the population has a favorite poetrition....is there anyone else here on giant growing center

I liked Robert Frost from grade school to now. I tried to like Dickinson but some of her poetry is too dark for me.

I am a simple man, Too me it doesn't get any better than Dr. Seuss. I used to really enjoy reading those stories to my kids. The words just roll right off the tongue.

lagavulin, second would be laphroig..i like the isle taste. It is only once in a blue moon I indulge myself. And I certainly should stay away from my keyboard when I do. What about you F&T..do you have a vice?

I appreciate your input heatstroke and big moon. I really do like seuss also. I read all of them to my daughter. It is too bad that now many of them are considered politically incorrect. I hope this thread doesn't sink politically.

heatstroke- when i was young Robert Frost somehow never appealed to me. Maybe now when I am older, I will see differently.I just glanced at "mending wall" . It certainly does seem different to me now.

Never had lagavulin, but have had the laphroiag 10. I Like it to. A much softer peated version is highland park. The 12 year old of that distillery was the first scotch I ever tried, and if your not use to the taste of peat its quite the shock to the palate. You will find out whether you like it or not real fast. lol
Ever since I tried a variety of scotch regions. Speyside and highland drams can be just as intriguing as the as smoky in your face Islay bottlings. My latest purchase was a bottle of Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14. Its finished in port casks and has a completely different character then the islay wiskey's. Its got chocolate, orange and red fruit notes that you wont find in the campfire and chimney smells of a laphroiag.
Still many more I'd love to try. Ardbeg, the Lagavulin you mentioned maybe an Octomore, or Port charlotte for the Islay variets, A Macallan, Dalmore and some of the Japanese bottles. So much variety and options its never ending.

One I tried this year that I really like was Craigellachie 13. Its a Speysider with tons of character and not easy but rewarding if you give it some time and ad a drop of water. Unfortunately its hard to get the more obscure bottlings here in the south and especially the aged versions of 12 years and up can get incredibly pricy so its a once every blue moon thing. Can't be sipping every day! lol

I read Dickenson, Frost,Seuess,Poe,Shakespeare, I like some from each wrote my own book of poetry in Jr. High, I like that Brandy Clark from where I used to live her country lyrics are poetry are not wasted words
