I have a 1579 Revier that is growing faster than any other in the garden.
my question;should I try to lift it and put sand underneath? its almost too big for two people to lift,so something might have to be done very soon.The problem is on the blossom end.the botton of the pumpkin is staying put,while the top half is overgrowing it..basicly the blossom is pointing down instead out horizontal..thanks

pour sand right up to the fruit-the pumpkin will grow onto to it

on to it.Just need a shallow layer for the sand to act like ball bearings

a lot of us make this mistake year in and year out. we get so busy admiring the fruit that we seem to forget the basic things.
ya gotta get something under them when they are football size. you can add more under the fruit later or remove if you cull the fruit.
thats what we do.

dont be afraid to place moth balls (or mouse bait )around the ground where the pumpkin is. especially if you are using just sand under the fruit.mice do not like moth balls and they will stay away.
