I have a current ph of 5.4 I know I need some fast acting lime to bring it the ph up. The question is....how much do I need for an area about 800 sq ft? New Grower...any help would be appreciated.

While fast acting sounds like something you want to do...slow and steady when it comes to PH 40lbs for every 1000 square feet will raise your PH around .5. This also can change if you have sandy or clay soil

Linus, I know that there are several types of lime out there. Is there a certain type I should apply since the fast-acting lime is not an optimum choice?

Depends on what your Magnesium level is...if it is not high regular barn lime is fine
