Hey everyone i was wondering If fluctuating temps (40 at Night one week and 70 the next) and excessive rain would be a reason my kins are so slow this year. I have got to feed them twice between rain storms lol . They were put in day after mothers day ( prizewinners so only 120 days) with First true leaf just showing, now the second is open with third showing. Any ideas are appreciated.

With inconsistent temperatures the soil temp. will be colder than the optimal temp. the plant prefers. With daytime highs in the 80's and night lows in the upper 60's to low 70's, I have found that my plants grow really well. Colder temps seem to slow down the plants metabolism. When my plants were smaller I cut an X in plastic and placed it over the plant and it kempt the soil temp. @ around 80 during the day. Also, I used a thermometer to check temp. Be sure to take it off when it warms up into the 80's.

That'll do it. They don't really start moving until temps are a consistent warm and the held up nitrogen in the soil gets going.
