Farming- a bunch of catastrophies that result in a lifestyle

The sand under carnival, mr Orange and the green monster got wet two days ago during a freak rain storm. I've been leaving them open during no rain periods (few and far between!!!)but the sand isn't drying at all. Its super humid here and it's just staying wet. The sand isn't actively soaking up water, but its still wet. (2days now) Is there a concern about this developing rot under my two bigger pumpkins? they both weigh over 100 pounds now so picking them up is kinda difficult. Anything I should do? Should I even be worried? Thought about putting copper sulfate under them if I can figure out how to lift them up enough to get it under them.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. A few days won't hurt it too much if your worried about it though you could try putting a fan on it.

its best to keep the area under and around the fruit completely dry.
for this reason we use a thin piece of plywood covered with a large piece of mill fabric under the fruit.
we make sure if needed, as the fruit gets much larger, that we add pieces of fabric around any excposed areas around the pumpkin.(splashing water also can throw damaging spores onto the lower areas of the fruit.

if you cant do anything with the situation for this year then id suggest a large cover over the fruit when it rains and also a small cut out of soil to force water out and away from the fruit.

Tonight when I have help I'm going to lift her and boyfriend is going to scrape all the sand out from under her. Shes on a pallet that has a rubber mat on it, so that's what she will be sitting on. I've made a better cover for her, just waiting for sun to go down. Fingers crossed, we have had six inches of rain in 4 days- the whole place is saturated. Least if some water gets on her mat it'll dry out quickly- I hope, shes at day 24 and still packing on 3" in circufrence a day. I'm also going to do my first taping to see where she is at weight wise. 57" circumference at moment.
