I think that's what its called when the top grows more than the bottom resulting in a 'shelf' over the blossom....anywho. On my worst plant the only pumpkin she even produced has been steadily heading this way. Right now its still volleyball sized, what precautions should I be taking now for this?

move it a little bit a day away from the vine and don't raise stem so high is it on something (like sand or mill fabric) that allows it to slide as it grows?

Yes she is on a light, 1/2" sand coating over a plastic slip sheet. she is currently perfectly 90 degrees from main vine like she should be.

I have one that is showing a tendancy to tilt down toward the blossom. I have been tilting it back toward the stem a little bit each day and shoving sand under it to keep it in place. Don't know if thats the best way to do it but it seems to be working so far.
