Hi! I am a grower from the frozen prairies in Canada. I have just a few growing seasons under my belt and have only reached 312lb to date. I have a promising one growing this year, and the goal is to get over 500. i was wondering- should I be watering daily? Cod out of tap Ok, or should it be warmer than that? Any help would be appreciated!

If you have a water tank available or some 55 gallon drums I would put the water in there and let it warm up for a day or so before putting it on your plants. On a typical plant I put 150 gallons per week during the peak growing time. But not all 150 gallons at one time. Break it up over the week and don't forget to get on a spray program. Hope this helps.

A good rule of thumb is 1 inch per week, therefore it will depend on the area you are going to water how much water you will need, and it will depend on the intensity of rain during the past couple days before you are going to water your plant. If you hadn´t had any rain for many days and need to water as much as 1 inch per week, then you should do that on 2 or 3 days (it is better than small amounts every day, some larger amounts will make it easier for the water to penetrate deeper into the soil), and try to water the whole area of the plant, and as mentioned above, pre-warmed water is definitely better than cold water from tap, because warm water will help maintain higher soil temperatures, which are better for the availability of minerals (some minerals, even though quite abundant, are less available to the plant roots in cold soil). Good luck!

Ad veteran, thanks so very much for the information. I am looking up. Info on spray programs, are you talking about plant misting or foliar feeding?

Pumpking. , thanks for all the great info, that helps a lot. My challenge is being at the cabin on weekends and trying to make sure it gets enough water to last for two or three days. :)

Foliar feeding with either a backpack sprayer or just a one gallon sprayer. Here is a link to a nice program.

This season iv just been digging into the soil and if the moist looking dirt is more than 3/4 inch or so below the surface ill run the sprikler for a half hour or so. Seems to been working alright so far, Just another idea
