It is getting down to low 60's and even the high 40's at night here, just a few days ago we set a record high of 97.
I have been covering the pumpkin at night with 2 blankets, plus I have a box surrounding that to protect it from the sun. This box does allow fresh air to circulate.
I put a remote thermometer in the box today, under the blankets it was 77F and the box was 70F.
What temp should I try to keep under the blankets, and do I need uncover the pumpkin to "give it some air"

Blankets at temps getting below 60 are a good idea. At this time of year a lot of growers take the blankets off late morning to early afternoon and let the sun hit the skin to soak as much heat up as possible for maximum growth. Then put them back on around 6 pm to keep that heat in.
I don't know the "best" temp , but I dought you can keep it over 70 if your dropping into the 40's.

Last night it was 48 and under the blanket it was 69. May be a better question is ,how hot is to hot.
