Snowball is a pumpkin Matt D. grew from cuttings off of 2009 Wallace plant. It's considered cloning. I think it was selfed from the cutting. It was grow to produce genetics the same or similar to the 2009

220 DeBacco is the snowball. a greenhouse grown fruit grown on the 2009 seed and pollinated by a cutting from the original plant that grew the 2009, which was a 1725 Harp. several people had good luck with it this year.

So, someone do the math...what % of 1725 Harp is in the snowball? Also, curious "several" & "good luck" ...ie, how many and how good? Know what I mean...just trying to figure it out, ya know? Peace, Wayne

the 282 scherber is a 1725 clone selfed I believe, would make a good cross for snowball.

To clear any potential confusion…
Snowball = 220.3 DeBacco ’13 The reason the name Snowball was given was the pumpkin actually looked like a snowball and it was also the world’s first (that I am aware of) snow cooled pollination. (Sure beats getting ice bags when you can just go outside and get some snow.)
The cross of the 220.3 DeBacco ’13 (F: 2009 Wallace ‘12 x M: 1725 Harp ’09 [2009 Wallace] clone) which means that it was grown off of the 2009 Wallace and pollinated with the same 1725 Harp plant that grew the 2009 Wallace.
The 220.3 DeBacco ’13 “Snowball” had one of the best first year out a seed has ever had. It grew two pumpkins over 1700 pounds (1744.5 Fulk + 1734.5 Steil) and both were 8% and 9% heavy respectively.
220.3 DeBacco stats: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=198837
Summary of the winter and summer 2013 growing seasons for me: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryView.asp?season=2013&grower=25411&action=L
Hope this helps.

Josch, isn´t the 1409.5 Miller 10 full of 1385.5 Jutras 07 too? We have to see that the hybrid vigor boost of the 1385.5 came to light with Christy Harp´s selfing this seed of our century?! Since I use AGs for my interspecific and intergeneric crossbreeding, I love this 1385.5. And Michael J. Oliver from Bristol RI first gave me his seed breeded with the 1385.5, so I always have to thank him. All grandparents of the 2009 are 1385.5 Jutras 07 (two times) or have a father or two grandmothers 1385.5! Since the pollinator for the 220.3 DeBacco 13 is a selfed 1385.5 Jutras 07, it might also be seen as a multiple cross hybrid of 1385.5 Jutras 07! I think, that this snowball never will grow a new world record, cause the 2009 is at an impasse. Josh, could you, would you ask CoJoe...please beg him, to give me seed of his 282. I would like to grow a traverse cross hybrid of the old 1385.5 Jutras 07 with the 282 Scherber 13 and the 1506 UOW Oliver 12 (selfed 1789).

not too much 1385 in the 1409, I think it shows up two times. 1409(1622 Young X 1658 Young) All you need to do is send Joe an e-mail and ask for the seed, if I get one it will definately see dirt in my patch this year. The 1124 and 1811 Graham have quite a bit of the 1385 in them, maybe Carl can spare a few!

Isnt putting a percentage of parentage on a pumpkin like putting a parentage on each seed that pumpkin produces. We know the main players to be the parents, but with all the crosses to get there,I believe that a little bit of all those genetic traits show through with each pumpkin grown, and that's why there is such a deviation in size.

Oh my! The 1314 Sperry 10 DMG was a (1385.5 x 1385.5) x 1385.5 and pollinator for the biggest fruit in Canada 2012 the 1811 Graham! I thank you, Josh. And yes, the 1124 was the same in opposite direction: 1314 Sperry 10 x 1634 Werner 10 I can´t find progeny of 1124, and so I will have to grow it. You know, that I never wanted to grow AGs, and so I do not really like to occupy my mind with AG genetix...but I remember that I was fascinated by Sperry´s 1385.5 hybrid two years ago. But now I have the opportunity to grow a stretto world record: a nearly ten years old 1192 Burke 98 x sib! germinated 100% two years ago. I think, this seed will be best for my tries with stretto 935 Lloyd 97 a stretto grandchild of the 687 Lloyd 95 from 614 Neily a 752.5 Stellpflug pollinated by the SQUASH 509* Neily that reaches back to the 355.5* Dill. I´m no AG grower, and I never will become one. I come from agriculture and gardening. My respect is for the great farmers Len and Paul Stellpflug, for the serious pumpkin and squash grower Will Neily in Nova Scotia and for the Bhaskarans. Does anybody know about progeny of Nick´s 568 Bhaskaran 01 UOW from the 910 Stellpflug? This was a very nice fruit in the beehive-style, and I would like to pollinate my edible B52 with the genetics of the slightly damaged 568 Bhaskaran.

All that I will say is watch my diary for updates. As a teaser I am growing one seeds from a pumpkin under 500 pounds and I am growing another seed from a pumpkin that is over 1700 pounds.
Stay tuned for details and pictures that will hopefully make for a good winter read. There will also be patch tours for those that want an up close and personal look;-)
