Hi, just another question i have if anyone can help me out.

When your pumpkin starts to grow, how much water are you guys giving them per day, i am on a sort of clay soil if that helps at all?

I realise that the amount would vary depending on location, soil type and temperature, but was just kind of looking for a rough average on what you would usally give it per day.
Also, do you directly water it to the main root system, or are you guys always foliage watering?

Hope all that makes sense.
If anyone can help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.

This is my second year growing giant pumpkins. On average, you are supposed to shoot for 1 inch of water / rain per week. I am planning on watering about 125 gallons of water per 1000 sq. ft. 3 times weekly, or the equivalent on a daily basis. If I can afford it, I will be using a drip irrigation system, so the roots will be watered. You can attach misters to the irrigation system so that the leaves get misted and don't wilt.

Weather has alot to do with it. On very hot days even 100 gallons may not be enough. let the pumpkins and the soil tell you. if you see the plant drooping then it needs water or check to see if the soil is dry,go down a few inches. Don't want soggy soil but keep it moist.
