Found small soft spot on stem, so I scraped soft spot, and covered with capton, and setup fan. Is there anything else to do?

keep stem exposed to the sun during the day. cover and keep dew off it at night. ditto - keep up the captan plus fan.

Not sure whether I should cut more out, and try again, or just keep the fan, and capton on it. Today is first sunny day we've had. I'm hoping the afternoon sun will start it drying. If it will just hold on 2 weeks.
