My biggest leaves near the stump of my plant are starting to collapse on themselves forming a kink where the stalk meets the vine. The tips of the leaves are touching the ground. Is the normal or should I be worried. It is only the leaves in the back and the main vine is only 7 feet long at this stage.

I should also mention that they are directly above the main vine and had already bent themselves back while the main vine was falling so they could catch sunlight.

You'll be cutting those real soon so no worries.

How many leaves do you cut off. Is this only to expose the stump to the sun?

Should the plant be a certain size to do this?

you always try staking your leaves up before the collapse, heading off the problem

I have supported the vines that have already fallen just to keep them from touching the ground. The rest of the leaves don't have a problem. Its just something to watch out for next year.
