I finally started my diary, finally... And I feel a little timid sharing my nightmare patch, but it should let other newbies feel better. ;)

My main question right now is if my suspicion and treatment for my stump sounds right. Looks like 'foam' but I'm not sure. I detail my treatment as well, but thoughts on that are welcome.

It's late in the season, but I'm not giving up. Even if I lose the stump, I'll grow what I can from the secondaries, or even tertiaries if needed. For me this year, it's really about learning. Wound treatment seemed to be up on the chopping block for the past two weeks.

Soil test results are on the way. Depending on how they look, I might ask for help on that front. I'll post the results in the diary. And the recent post about feeding will be helpful I suspect.

Matt emailed me back, its hard to say for sure with the pictures, and svb damage. It could be a nutrition deficiency or a number of other things. I'm afraid it is yellow vine disease. If that is the case it will not set a pumpkin.

Maybe a few others that have had first hand experience with yellow vine can confirm or deny.

Thanks for that cntryboy. I was feeling pretty good that it wasn't YVD but not I'm not so sure. I see some large leaves with some yellowing, but with the borers... It is hard to tell.

I just came in from working out there and found a few more borers.. But two were large and often times late instars are more resistant to insecticides - imadacloprid in particular. Found one small one but mashed it in cleaning so who knows. :) And a few small damaged areas, but cleaning them means there is no chance to find a very early instar. They are so tiny.

A lot of the main stump areas healed well, but some are still soft, and still oozing a bit. I'm going in with the scalpel one more time to get the rest of it. I'll update the diary with more info.

Not giving up yet. ;)
