Hi all..i put my kins on about 3" thick hard styrofoam from Home Depot. Never imagining they would actually grow quasibig I made them too small, i see the growing pumpkins are starting to spill over the front and side edges, im afraid the bottom of the kin wont be flat if i do nothing. Is shimming it up with a couple inches of sand enough or do i need to extend the same hard foam material to ensure a flat bottom

That's a good problem to have...you should be fine packing a flat bed of sand the same height as the foam.. Good luck!..

Lol yeah, after two days of hundred degree temps on the heals of a month at 95 we are starting to cool down a bit and i may see some better growth, not really sure it will become a problem given the sad state of my leaves...better safe than sorry! Thanks PC..baeautiful gardens you have! Granny Smith is beautifulll.. Any carvers know what the meat is like..concrete or cream cheese?

Yes I do....don't worry about the sand...helps drain water away from the fruit. I like to use mill fabric, with or with out sand...Ill be at all the weigh offs....plus another site wanting to start up in Denver...
