Is it normal to have a very slight jello affect when you thump the side of a 500 lb pumpkin? I am worried it might go light. It jiggles a little bit if I thump it hard enough.

My guess is you have a thin walled one, it probably will go light or to the chart. The worst case scenario is that the pumpkin is rotting from the inside out. You can't dwell on that though. So many times I have thought I had a pumpkin that was going down and it was fine.

Not very hard, just hard enough to get an idea as to how thick it might be. There is a big hump on the top of the pumpkin that I thump with the lower palm of my hand. I found that it doesn't really have the jello affect unless I hit that part. I guess it just might be the shape (ugly).

Lol. I say that so they know I am giving it a solid thump and not a smack. It wont work with a smack.

Somebody: my main fruit also has a big hump. I wonder what the heck is going on in there. Something unnatural forming?

Maybe the plant breeders could come up with a giant pumpkin with clear, but very tough, skin...
