I noticed what looks like a growth crack except it goes around the stem. The main vine was pretty tight on both sides of the stem even after pulling up some root nodes. So, I used some straps and pulled the pumpkin back about 3 or 4 inches. After that the main was noticeably looser on either side. The stem area was treated with 10:1 bleach solution, sulfur, and has a fan on it. Also, after looking at the pictures I see a small brown spot that I need to check on as well. Is there anything else I should be doing? Think the pumpkin will make it? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

You're doing well! Due to the lighting it is a bit hard to tell if there is anything more you could do. I may take an old small paint brush and peroxide and thoroughly debree it and on that I would go with the Captan vs. the sulfur. You're making a good move and probably will recover just fine!

Dan You may want to provide some form of a shade shelter above your pumpkins. Also, try to cover the fruit with a clean, wet towel or sheet, but not the stem. Otherwise, they look great from your diary photos!

Thank you both. I keep the pumpkins under white sheets 24/7 except for pictures, measuring, etc. My biggest concern is the crack that goes around the stem. I've had them radiate out away from the stem, but never around it.

I agree with big dog. My kin(Scarface) has a lot of splits on and coming from the stem area. I have been using peroxide and a small fan.
