Had some gale force winds yesterday and after adding guy wires to my wind block structure, the giant pumpkin plant came through just fine. However, I noticed some very small nicks in the pumpkin skin due to flying debris (i.e. maple seeds and such) which seeped a drop or two. My question is: should all nicks in the skin be treated with captan, or only large cracks as I've read. Thanks for any advice.

Can't hurt to powder the little marks but they should be fine without it..good luck !

Should be fine in dry cali. to not have to use any-especially on a young fruit. It will scab over in a couple days

linda, I use a small plastic bottle...like ketchup or mustard in some older diners...lil squeeze bottle. Powder type of captan, and blow a lil captan on every cut I make in the pkn patch! Just a small dusting of captan (shake bottle often). Hope this helps! Peace, Wayne
