Traps...and kill the grubs they are feeding on..not sure what you have up that way for grub killer...you could also try the electronic pest repellents ..nasty little buggers...good luck

Castor oil.
Bonide makes it in a granulated form.
Just broadcast it out in the patch before a good rain.
Runs em right out.

Thanks for suggestions had a guy come in today and found out they are
Voles but I could also have a mole as well he put out some boxes with
poison so hope it works. Also bought one of those sonic mole devices today makes a noise not sure if nieghbors will tolerate. Will check out and
look for the castor oil product. Thanks again my pumpkin is still doing fine😊

Moles won't really bother your plants.
Voles on the other hand will use the tunnels the mole digs.
Lost 3 melon plants my first year growing because of voles.
Also wiped out half of a fifty foot row of potatoes.
Stick your finger down in the dirt around the stump.
If you have a tunnel there,it will be a big hole underneath.
A vole will cut the stump clean through underground.

Moles will bother your plant. They root and tunnel in your rooting area. In the patch I tap down all runs, and flood the tunnels. Watch for the soil to move, and proceed to kill those little SOB's. A good pumpkin patch has lots of worms. That is what the moles are after

I high stepped it through the patch yesterday chasing a vole, compacting the soil? I didnt care I got him
. Moles are worse roots die in the tunnels

Get a cat. I had tons of voles before we started letting our cats out. Now, no more voles anywhere.

Drill a hole in a mouse trap and pin it to the ground with a nail. Use a short section of downspout with a narrow side cut out and place over vole hole. Trap at both ends. Instant tunnel directing him to his end.

I agree ... moles dig at the exact depth the roots occupy. They will set the plant back a few days every time they dig a new tunnel. Flooding used to work for me but my ground drains too fast. Metal spring traps is what I use I'm surprised I've still got all my fingers though.
