Last yr I had a awful time with cucumber beetles and vine boarers. How often to I spray pesticide? Does it hurt a young plant?

I would drench generic merit for vine borers, and wouldn't spray for cucumber in till they show up using something like Bifen IT if the plant is small try 1/2 strength first

Look in my grower diary for some traps that I bought off of Amazon if you don't want to be spraying.

1\2 strength or slightly less when the plants are young then once every 7 days if you have a problem.
Down where I am I only spray once every couple weeks and it does the job but the guys dealing with cucumber beetles go once a week.

One year I planted pumpkins and the next day the cucumber beetles were eating them up. Mow I sprinkle garlic powder when planting. I keep the hoop houses smelling like an Italian restaurant. It keeps the bugs away, and the plants don't get stresses by harsh chemicals. Once the hoops come off, I start in with the insecticides. I have to hit the bugs harder, as the last 2 seasons the bugs have been terrible in August and September.
