This morning checking my pumpkin stem area and I see something has been chewing on the back under side area of my pumpkin. No problems until today. I had a rat trap on the board baited with peanut butter - guess it likes fresh pumpkin better. Any other preventive ideas beyond rat traps?? I plan to mix up some captan paste today and hope it doesnt start rotting.

It doesn’t always work, but a couple sheets wrapped around the base of the pumpkin and going up about 5 inches has helped deter mice as a barrier. You’ll have to adjust it daily.

Peppermint oil will keep them away. Not sure how well it does once they are there.

Rat glue pads with a string tied to something or a nail threw it into the ground rodent blocks spread out all over

Nana Rea, I put cotton balls in medicine bottles, add several drops of oil, drill holes in the lid and place, typically 4 around the fruit. At least once a week, add a few more drops of oil
